The Photography as an Art Form
Photography was not always considered a form of art. Photography started to gain notions as an art
form when the first portrait photographs were made by ex painters, and this was caused much debate.
Portrait photography was very successful because it could easily replace a painted portrait, with much
more realistic details, and in the same time the price was cheaper.

Portrait photography started to replace the old portrait paintings and many painters decided to become photographers, especially when the need for surviving was higher in such times. This was the beginning of photography in the art medium. |
Felix Tournachon and Gustave Le Gray was some of the few painters that decided to choose
photography, and to fight for promoting the photography as a form of art.
In the middle of the XIX century a new artistic tendency started to appear, the naturalism.
The apparition of this new tendency which was focused on objectivity, tried to imitate the reality
and naturalism with a high amount of perfection. This way, the naturalism was a way which opened
the doors, and photography gained more importance in the art medium. Photography copied the
perfect details of nature in a much better way than painters did.
Today, the photography has become a passion for millions of people from all over the world, with
a subjective character. The human mind has always searched new methods to create clear images,
beautiful and convincing, and very close to the reality. The photography of today is a result of the effort
of many photographers and anonymous artists from the past years, which worked and dreamed for
a possibility to create perfect images.
